Why Choose Tulipwood Square Edge Window Boards?
Solid Tulipwood window boards provide the strength and durability of genuine hardwood while offering one of the finest surfaces available for painted joinery. Unlike MDF, Tulipwood is manufactured from solid timber, allowing it to be sanded, refinished and repaired if required throughout its lifetime.
The square edge profile creates clean, contemporary lines that complement modern homes, minimalist interiors and architectural joinery. Combined with Tulipwood's fine grain and smooth texture, it produces a crisp, elegant finish beneath any internal window.
Although many customers choose Tulipwood because of its exceptional paint finish, it also looks attractive when finished with clear oils or lacquers that highlight its subtle natural grain.
Our Tulipwood square edge window boards are suitable for:
- Living rooms
- Bedrooms
- Kitchens
- Dining rooms
- Home offices
- Hallways and landings
- Modern apartments
- Painted interior schemes
- Commercial interiors
- Bespoke joinery projects
The square edge profile also complements contemporary skirting boards, architraves, shelving and other modern timber mouldings throughout the property.
Premium Quality Solid Tulipwood
Every window board is manufactured from carefully selected kiln-dried solid Tulipwood. Kiln drying helps reduce the timber's moisture content before machining, improving stability and helping to minimise excessive movement after installation.
Tulipwood is valued for its fine, even texture and straight grain, making it exceptionally easy to machine, sand and finish. These qualities have made it one of the most popular hardwoods for painted skirting boards, architraves, mouldings, shelving and window boards.
Please note that all Tulipwood window boards measuring 200mm wide and over are jointed across the width. Carefully selected sections of solid timber are joined together to create wider boards whilst maintaining the strength, stability and premium appearance expected from a quality hardwood product.
As Tulipwood is a natural timber, colour, grain and character will vary between individual boards. These natural variations are part of the beauty of genuine hardwood and ensure that every finished installation is unique.
Finishing Your Tulipwood Window Board
Our Tulipwood window boards are supplied unfinished, allowing you to choose the finish that best suits your project.
- Primer and paint
- Hardwax oil
- Clear timber oil
- Interior varnish
- Clear satin or matt lacquer
- Wood stain
Tulipwood is particularly well known for producing an exceptionally smooth painted finish with very little grain showing through the paint. It is equally suitable for clear finishes where a subtle natural timber appearance is preferred.
Before applying any finish, lightly sand the surface where required and remove all dust. Apply the finish to all accessible faces, edges and cut ends to help reduce moisture absorption and provide long-term protection.
