An auto center punch / bradawl is used to make a precisely placed indentation into timber without using a hammer. Perfect for marking out screws and nails without needing to drill a pilot hole.
About Shogun AP-10 Press Action Auto Centre Punch / Bradawl
Specifically designed for woodworkers, can be used on Softwood, Hardwood, MDF, Ply and Chipboard.
Spring action punches an indentation into the timber, when the top is firmly pressed down against the surface, until it clicks. Perfect for setting out screws and nails without needing pilot holes.
The punching strength is adjustable by rotating the head cap of the tool. Rotate clockwise to increase the spring tension, rotate anti-clockwise to decrease tension.
The depth of the indentation can therefore be adjusted to suit the hardness of the wood you are working with. The results are accurate and consistent, when compared to using hand pressure alone or a hammer blow to create the mark.
These tools are known as a centre punch or dot punch by engineers: Woodworkers call them a bradawl.
