Sizing Guidance

When selecting your rough sawn hardwoods, please note the following size considerations to make sure your finished components meet your requirements:

For a finished planed width of 100mm, we recommend choosing a rough sawn board at least 10mm wider to allow for accurate planing.

As wider sawn timber boards are more prone to natural movement such as cupping or twisting, it’s also advisable to add 10–15mm to your required finished thickness. This will allow you to compensate for any inconsistencies and achieve a smooth, stable final product.
