European Oak Lath Strips For Lime Plaster
European Oak Lath Strips for Lime Plaster
Approx. size 30mm wide x 6mm thick x 1220mm long
Lath strips are narrow, seasoned timber battens traditionally used as a substrate for lime plaster in heritage restoration and natural building applications. These wooden strips are typically sawn or riven (split) and fixed with consistent gaps (usually around 8–10 mm) to provide a mechanical key for the plaster to adhere to. We supply in 2 quantities, these can be purchased in singles or purchased in a pack of 50 that covers approx 2 square metres
Ideal for use in timber-framed buildings, ceilings, and wattle-and-daub repairs, lath strips are designed to support multiple coats of lime plaster, allowing it to grip securely while accommodating natural movement and breathability.
Made from durable woods such oak, or softwood (like pine or larch), these laths are chosen for their strength, flexibility, and compatibility with traditional lime-based materials. Lath and plaster systems offer superior breathability, helping to regulate indoor humidity and prevent moisture buildup—making them a preferred solution for conservation projects and sustainable construction.
