Ready to Finish

Our Iroko Weather Bars can be finished with a suitable exterior oil, stain or protective coating to complement the door and help protect the timber from continued exposure to the elements.

Due to the natural oils present in iroko, the surface should be properly prepared before applying any finish. We recommend following the coating manufacturer’s instructions and applying the chosen finish to all surfaces, including the ends and reverse of the weather bar, before installation.

Natural Timber Characteristics

As this product is manufactured from solid iroko, every weather bar will display its own individual grain pattern, colour variation and natural characteristics. These variations are a normal feature of genuine hardwood and contribute to the timber’s distinctive appearance.

Freshly machined iroko can vary considerably in colour, but it will usually darken and become more uniform as it is exposed to light and air. Timber is a natural material and may expand or contract slightly as it adjusts to changes in temperature, moisture and humidity.
