Tulipwood Spindle Blanks

The heartwood is light cream to yellowish brown, with occasional streaks of gray or green. The sapwood is pale yellow to white, not always clearly demarcated from the heartwood.

The grain is traight and fine. Easy to work to a smooth surface and stains and finishes well. It works well on the lathe, but it is best to make good finishing cuts with the bowl gouge to reduce sanding. A scraper will leave a woolly finish.

Our spindles are waxed to prevent moisture uptaje, if stored in humid conditions.
