Tagua Nuts

Tagua Nuts sometimes called vegetable ivory, or ivory nut, come from southern Panama the Andes, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru. Often used as a substitute for elephant ivory. These small seeds, roughly 4 x 8 cm in diameter are ideal for small turned or carved work, they have no grain to contend with and they will sand to a satin finish. They are ideal for small Netsuke style carvings and they will accept stains.
