Woodcarving Courses at The Lake District Wood Workshop
Situated at the gateway to the Lake District , The Lake District Wood Workshop is just 2 miles north of Ullswater. We provide the opportunity to learn woodcarving in surroundings recently described on national television as ‘the most beautiful place in the world’.
Road and rail links from Penrith provide easy access to an idyllic and unrivalled location to allow you to relax and immerse yourself in this rewarding and fascinating craft.
Local Accommodation in The Lake District is in abundance! However if you need any help our local recommendations are-:
An ideal course for beginners to embark on the craft or for more experienced carvers wanting to extend their knowledge.
In a relaxed and supportive environment you will be nurtured through at least one, more often than not, two completed projects during the two days. In addition anyone wishing to learn a specific skill e.g. knife carving, lettering etc, or their own chosen subject can easily be accommodated in a flexible and student focussed programme. All areas of the craft will be covered from inspiration, planning, preparation, cutting out, carving, finishing through to presentation of the completed work. Information on suitable woods, tools, accessories, plans and books will all be covered. All tools and materials are provided, though anyone wishing to bring their own is free to do so and if necessary they can be sharpened free of charge in the sharpening demonstration!
All students are encouraged to share ideas and questions to create a worthwhile learning experience.
